TRAINING WITH WELDON

"A finished dog is more than a performer—it’s a partner. My goal is to create confident, steady dogs that shine both in competition and in the field."

For Weldon Gardner, training dogs isn’t just a profession—it’s a way of life deeply rooted in tradition, skill, and an enduring love of the field. Based in Helena, Montana, Weldon has dedicated decades to the art and science of developing top-tier gun dogs for hunting and field trial competition. From crisp mornings on wild-bird courses to the adrenaline of championship stakes, Weldon’s journey reflects a commitment to excellence, partnership, and the pursuit of true canine potential.

Every dog is an individual. Weldon believes in meeting each dog where they are, recognizing their unique personality, maturity, and natural ability. His approach combines:

  • Foundation work to develop confidence and drive
  • Customized training plans tailored to each dog’s needs and goals
  • A focus on wild-bird experience to sharpen instincts and true hunting application
  • Handler education, ensuring owners and handlers build the skills to work as a cohesive team

Whether it’s a dog who is gun shy, bird shy, or struggling with e-collar sensitivity, he brings a calm, intuitive approach that helps dogs overcome obstacles and thrive.
